AFROCOLOMBIAN CULTURE | When talking about culture, traditions, history, origins of our country, the different Colombian regions, we use to think about paisas, costeños, rolos, llaneros, etc; but most of the times we forget one important component of our nation: the afrocolombian region, the African influence on our history, on our culture and people of different zones of the country. |

| This year the whole world is recognizing the importance and influence of the African continent on humankind origin and history. Africa is one of the richest continents when talking about culture, art, biodiversity, amazing places, nature and of course all those things influenced by the African people, a brave race who through the centuries have demonstrated its strength and bravery spirit. |
| Approximately on the XVI century , during the conquer and colony process of our land, the first African people arrived to our country, unfortunately as slaves, but, since that time they influenced our life, our culture, just an example is given by the music and gastronomy components.To celebrate our fourth English forum, we proposed a special tribute to our afrocolombian culture and origins. First of all we wanted to talk about the African continent, making emphasis on the art, customs, amazing places, religion, culture; and to show how that continent have influenced our country, our customs. |
| The forum was an opportunity to show our students competences and abilities concerning the good use of the English language. |
The goal was filled: to recognize African importance about culture and progress of humankind, to appreciate students good manage of the foreign language.Since this moment we start to work thinking about our next English forum, next year if God permits us we’ll celebrate our fifth English forum, of course thanks to the English teachers, to the students and all the people who participated on the activity. |
